I&#8217;ve used mine constantly, especially as I&#8217;m prone to losing my keys/wallet. However, the fact that there is no obvious way to replace the batteries (in the older versions) is plain stupid, and yet another example of companies encouraging unnecessary waste. The products still work, they just need new batteries.</p>

<p>Luckily there&#8217;s a great Youtube video which explains how to simply swap out the battery:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="Tile Mate Battery Replacement" width="500" height="281" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9on1PDiBX0s?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>Tile did fix the error in their ways as the newer <a href="https://amzn.to/39nhM8Z" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Tile trackers (opens in a new tab)">Tile trackers</a> have access panels to replace batteries in a standard way.</p>
